THE SECOND ARSON ATTEMPT (part one)

This is the details of the second arson attempt in 2021, that was aimed at reducing the legendary St. Mary's School, Yala to ashes. Well, the first attempt had seen Grace Ogot dormitory slightly burnt, inconveniencing all the students that were housed there. Investigations later revealed that it was executed by a form two student who was sick of being in school, just two days after half term break. Well, it was a one man affair, no fuel was used, just mattress and bed sheets. But the second attempt was just out of this world.

Never in the history of schooling had I heard of students planning to bring down a whole administration and tuition complex, which housed almost all senior administrative offices and twelve classrooms. It was no doubt a product of a well elaborate plan drawn by masterminds after a long series of meetings. To make matters worse, the planners were form four candidates, who had their national exams due in very few months time.

4 North

Throughout my four years plus stay at St. Mary's School, Yala, I was a member of the Central stream. The school's population was enormous such that each class was subdivided into at least six streams, and named after what you people call the campus points. My stream Central was the most notorious. Teachers would complain about as day by day in the assemblies. Two of our members were the first to be suspended in our lot, barely a week after the form one orientation. I and we all had been made to believe that Central stream harbored all sorts of criminals who were in the school's red list. But this was before we knew of 4 North.

Well, they say silent killers are the worst.  I was first shocked when rumor reached us that some members of North had successfully planned and broken into the school canteen few hours before end of night preps. It was later confirmed in the assembly that large quantities of sodas and maandazis were missing. Chapatis and loaves of bread were not spared too. Many were perplexed. How could they dismantle the huge padlocks on the doors, and exactly how could they even manage to execute the plan under the watch of over 20 night security guards? No answers. What we didn't know , that was a warning before they bounced back after a two week suspension, this time bigger and better.

STAY TUNED FOR PART TWO
